Midtown is a team led church mostly consisting of volunteers. We want to see each leader working in the area of their giftedness with a team of accountability in place. Along with the Vision Team, Lead Team, & Servant Team (deacons); Midtown relies heavily on a group of other volunteers (we like to call them missionaries) to pursue the mission God has given. As we journey and dream together Jesus is shaping us toward becoming servant leaders to our church family and community. Below you will find the different networks, partnerships, and circles of accountability that Midtown is a part of as a church, as well as a biblical explanation of our Vision Team Elders. MISSION COLUMBIA - Midtown is one of the churches that makes up Mission Columbia. It is a network of approximately 70 churches in the greater Columbia area who are collectively seeking to share the message of Jesus with every man, woman, and child. This network crosses denominational lines. Biblical Explanation of Vision Team (elder) Below is biblical explanation for our vision team (elder, and NO it doesn't just mean someone who is old) Vision Team (Elders) are the leaders of the church who in the Bible are also called pastors, bishops, and overseers (Acts 20:28; Ephesians 4:11; 1 Peter 5:2). The vision team (elders) are men chosen for their ministry according to clear biblical requirements (1 Timothy 2:11-3:1-7; Titus 1:5-9). The elders are always spoken of in plurality because God intends for more than one man to lead and rule over the church as a safeguard for both the church and the man. The vision team's (elders') duties include ruling (1 Timothy 5:17) managing (1 Timothy 3:4-5), tending (1 Peter 5:2-5), giving account (Hebrews 13:17), living exemplary lives (Hebrews 13:7), using authority (Acts 20:28), teaching (Ephesians 4:11, 1 Timothy 3:2), preaching (1 Timothy 5:17), doctrinal instruction (Titus 1:9), and discipline (Matthew 18:15-17). |
